We received the following story by mail, it was written by Galloway's nephew Brown George Turnipseed Jr. in August of 1993.


 




**The first time U.S. Army parachute troops were used in combat was in November of 1942 when the 509th Parachute Infantry Battallion left England in 39 C-47's traveling 1500 miles to the shores of North Africa.
