We received the following story by mail from Annie McIllvoy Zaya, it was written by Galloway's nephew Brown George Turnipseed Jr. in August of 1993.

(Brown George Turnipseed Jr. passed away on May 10th, 2010. He was an Army veteran serving as a 1st Lieutenant 1966 through 1968. His obituary is shown below.)



 




**The first time U.S. Army parachute troops were used in combat was in November of 1942 when the 509th Parachute Infantry Battallion left England in 39 C-47's traveling 1500 miles to the shores of North Africa.
