Morris Perrow Guerrant, of Roanoke, Virginia, rose through the ranks to a 1st Lieutenant. He earned the Bronze Star medal (General Order # 17, 1945, 82nd ABNDIV) during the Battle of the Bulge counter-offensive on January 7th 1945, the Silver Star medal, posthumously, (General Order # 102, 1945, 82nd ABNDIV) for gallantry in action against the enemy on April 30th 1945 at the crossing of the Elbe River, Germany and the Purple Heart medal. 1st Lieutenant Morris Perrow Guerrant was killed in action on April 30th 1945. He is interred at the Evergreen Burial Park Cemetery, Roanoke, Virginia.
There are no available records to tell us when Morris began his Army service. All records that could be found are shown below. All we know is that he arrived in England as a 2nd Lieutenant in the summer of 1944 at the 19th Replacement Depot. On June 26th 1944 he was transferred to Service Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. One month later, on July 26th 1944 he was transferred to Company B, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. At this time he was second platoon's assistant platoon leader under 1st Lieutenant Stanley Weinberg.
2nd Lieutenant Morris P. Guerrant earned his Combat Infantry Badge (General Order # 19, 1944, 505PIR) fighting in Holland, September 1944.
The book "Four Stars Of Valor", the history of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, mentions Lieutenant Guerrant on pages 250 and 401.
