Wallace "Leo" Figueroa entered Army service on March 10th 1942 from Los Angeles, California. He earned his jump wings in late 42. Leo served in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy, he made his first combat jump into Sicily on the night of July 9/10, 1943. Sometime after the Italian campaign Leo came down with malaria. When it came time for the D-Day invasion he was still hospitalized. He served in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment with
D company and rose to
the rank of Sergeant.
