   Ross S. Carter hailed from the town of Duffield, in Scott County, Virginia. He was known as "Arab" to all in his book, "Those Devils In Baggy Pants". Ross served in C company of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart medals. The book Ross wrote in the months following the end of WW-II sold a million copies over the years, it was published by his brother in 1951. Ross died in 1947 from cancer, he was at 28 years old.
