CENTRAL EUROPE

On April 30th 1945, the 505th Regimental Combat Team with the 82nd Airborne Division, made their last river crossing of the war at the Elbe river near Bleckede, Germany. One of the few causualties connected with this crossing was G companies Private Kenneth L. Harris, a Silver Star medal recipient (Sicily) and a four combat jump veteran. Private Harris had survived through all six campaigns and was killed in action on April 30,1945, in the final few days of the war.
