RostersSeptember 14, 2024, The original 505 Regimental Combat Team roster created by 505 Parachute Infantry veterans James J. "Joe" Meyers of D company and Robert W. "Bob" Gillette of Regimental Headquarters company has been updated in an ongoing ten year project that began in 2012 and continues into 2022. Many thousands of hours have gone into this project. We have tried, as best we could, to list awards of the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star medal, Bronze Star medal ***, Soldiers Medal and Purple Heart medals earned by members of the Regimental Combat Team between July 1942 and May 1945. Also, we have tried to find the dates of death and locations of cemeteries our 505 Regimental Combat Team paratroopers are interred. ( *** The Bronze Star medal issued in 1947 to recipients of the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Combat Medical Badge are not listed on our rosters.) Also available since late 2015 is the new 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment roster. Both updated rosters can be downloaded below.
Please let us know should you find errors on any of the rosters available for download on this page. You can e-mail us here. You may find other versions of both the 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment roster and the 505 Regimental Combat Team roster available on the internet, however, they all originate from the original work of James J. "Joe" Meyers and Robert W. "Bob" Gillette. New rosters have on their last two pages, a disclaimer and legend explaining abbreviations. The most recent updated copies of the 505-PIR and 505-RCT rosters (PDF and Excel) became available on September 14, 2024.
